Press Release Body = Tequila is a spirit distilled from the fermented sugar juices
of blue agave plants found in 180 municipalities authorized by the Standard Official
Mexican Norm. (All municipalities in Jalisco and some in Guanajuato, Michoacan,
Nayarit and Tamaulipas States are authorized.) Most people think tequila comes from
the Tequila municipality, in Jalisco State, but tequila can come from any of the
municipalities listed above.

Tequila has been produced for over 600 years, known under the name of \"pulque\" at
that time, and is one of the world\'s most popular liquors. Its unique flavor is
enjoyed both straight and in a variety of cocktails, most notably the famous
Margarita.

Tequila, like all first-class liquors and wines, comes in a variety of determined
categories. In this case, tequila has two categories: 100 percent Agave and Blended
Tequila, but it must be made in one of those 180 municipalities. The most popular is
the Tequila municipality. And it must adhere to strict Mexican government
regulations. There are four kinds of tequila within those two categories: Silver,
Gold, Aged and Extra-Aged. The two most popular forms of tequila are Silver and
Gold. Silver tequila is the original drink, a strong, pure distillation of the heart
of the agave plant. Gold tequila is the same as Silver tequila, but it is typically
colored and flavored, most often with caramel.

To be sure you are buying real tequila, you should look at the label for the NOM
(Standard Official Mexican Norm) and CRT (Tequila Regulator Council) seals, as well
as the category and form of the tequila.

Personal Taste
Buying tequila is a matter of personal taste. A little trial and error will
determine what type of tequila you like best. If you own a restaurant or bar, it is
best to keep many varieties of tequila ready. Today\'s tequila drinkers have become
quite sophisticated and will know exactly what they want.
